Terms and Conditions

Welcome to our genealogy research services. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before purchasing any genealogy research package or ancestry research service.

By using this website and purchasing our genealogy services, you agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Scope of Research and Results

Research Goals

The scope of each genealogy research project must be agreed upon in writing before work begins. This may include specific family branches, individuals, surnames, or historical time periods.

No Guarantee of Results

We make every effort to locate historical records, family connections, and ancestry information. However, we cannot guarantee that specific individuals, records, or documents will be found. In some cases, records may not have survived, may be incomplete, or may contain inaccurate information.

Professional Judgement

We use professional genealogy research methods and historical sources to determine the most effective research paths for each project. In addition, research decisions are based on available evidence and professional analysis.

Deliverables

Upon completion of the project, clients will receive a formal genealogy research report. This report may include research findings, source citations, family tree information, and professional analysis.

2. Fees and Expenses

Payment Structure

All genealogy research services are provided as fixed-price genealogy packages unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required before genealogy research begins.

Additional Costs

Additional costs may apply for official records and certificates. These may include birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, archive fees, or document copies.

3. Limitations, Accuracy, and Data Retention

Research Reports

Genealogy research reports may include negative findings. These are unsuccessful searches that show which research avenues have already been explored. However, these searches remain chargeable because professional research time is still required.

File Retention

All digital genealogy research files and physical documents will be securely retained for five years after the completion of the project.

Client Information

Clients are responsible for the accuracy of any information, documents, or previous family history research they provide. Therefore, we are not liable for errors caused by incorrect or incomplete information supplied by the client.

4. Intellectual Property and Copyright

Report Ownership

Clients own the physical or digital copy of the final genealogy research report. However, we retain copyright ownership of the written analysis, research notes, family tree layouts, and original content unless otherwise agreed in writing.

5. Privacy and Data Protection

GDPR Compliance

We comply with UK and EU data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In addition, we are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) where required.

Confidentiality

All client information, genealogy records, and ancestry research findings will remain strictly confidential unless disclosure is required by law.

6. Termination and Cancellation

Cooling-Off Period

Under UK consumer protection laws, clients have a 14-day cooling-off period to cancel their genealogy research package if research work has not yet started.

Early Termination

Either party may terminate the agreement with written notice. However, the client remains responsible for payment for all completed genealogy research work and any expenses incurred before the termination date.
